I think Tophia doesn’t want Papachu back because she knows that he would kick her out.
She wants to keep using his check without consequences for however long she can. Donald would not put up with her shit. So either Donald comes back kicks her to the curb or he goes to jail and the checks stop. It’s a lose lose for Tophia.
