I am going to preface this with saying I didn’t like Charlie’s political views at all but he says a person’s name. Cenk Uygur. Not “Chink”. Yeah he still loses his cool in that clip and its super unprofessional but it’s over 6 years ago and being completely lied about. Also Cenk is turkish-american not Chinese.

cenk uygur’s name is pronounced “jenk,” not “chink.” there’s literally no h sound in it. the way it came out in that clip sounds like a racial slur, and that’s what makes it offensive, plain and simple.

There is nothing wrong with calling him by his very Turkish name, come on now. It's unfortunate that his name sounds like a slur but that's the man's name. Charlie was a horrible person, there's no need to spin a false narrative in order to make him look bad or racist. There are literally hundreds of videos of him doing that all on his own, this isn't one of them. He's being his typical awful self in this video, but he absolutely wasn't openly shouting racial slurs.

Nowhere in the video did Charlie pronounce it with an "I". He quite literally says "chenk" which is probably how most Americans would pronounce Cenk if they didn't know better. Pointing out his race absolutely doesn't prove that he was shouting that slur, it proves that he wasn't shouting that slur because that is not a slur ANYONE uses for anyone other than Asian people. You are absolutely reaching. There are so many valid things to criticize Charlie for without making shit up.

nah, that’s not how it works. americans unfamiliar with turkish might mispronounce “cenk” as “senk” or “sink,” not with a hard “ch” sound. there’s literally no reason for “chenk” to come out of anyone’s mouth naturally, which is why what charlie said sounded like a racial slur. pointing out that cenk is turkis, not chinese, doesn’t disprove it, it indirectly admits that the pronunciation sounded like “chink.” and yes, there are plenty of valid criticisms of charlie without twisting the facts, but this is about exactly what he said in that clip, not making things up.
