African Americans are people who are born in Africa and migrate to American 😭. Same with German Americans, Italian Americans, Chinese American, etc, or you come from someone who has direct roots from that country, I.E. your parents are from there, so therefore, you have a direct connection to the heritage, most likely know the langugage and culture. Tophias parents aren't from Africa, nor have any direct connection to African culture nor heritage 😭.

Hmm, so Africans who migrate and obtain citizenship in America, should they only go by their ethnicity? I only ask because I don't claim I'm African American as I have a disconnect from African heritage, and most Africans I run into usually say they are African American, hence why I only go by black American.
