I feel so awful for her — from the absolute bottom of my heart. The press conference seemed to imply that there was no implication of this being over an Internet presence. Just absolutely rotten luck it seems. 😭

I’m sure Tophia just most likely assumed that it was someone from the internet trolling her, not just some random occurrence because people troll her all the time. At least that’s what Aunt Karen was saying on TikTok. If I was her I would’ve initially thought that way at first too.

Two things can be true at the same time—while she may not have been the direct shooter, this tragedy ultimately stems from their housing situation.
Aggression toward homeless individuals skyrockets compared to those with stable shelter.
This isn’t about hating Tophia—she needs support, not an army of hate. She deserves consolation any way we can in this moment.
But to ignore the direct link between their circumstances and their lack of housing, or to pretend this would have happened regardless of the years of (preventable) online harassment and exposure, is simply denial.
I truly hope this serves as a grim wake-up call for Tophia to step away from the public eye and focus on building a stable future for herself and Mamachu.
This is heartbreaking and unreal. I’m so sorry this happened.

This is the same argument people make when trying to blame women for being raped btw. Wearing a short skirt or partying doesn’t mean you’re asking to be raped any more than being homeless and bad with money means you’re asking to be carjacked or shot. Yes, Tophia needs to work towards a safe, stable living situation, but none of the Slydells are in any way at fault for this.
