I can only imagine how Papachu might react to the incident
I don't know all the fine details of their OR his situation. But from where I'm sitting in internet land, it almost seems like Papachu just lost interest in the family entirely. Now I'm not entirely up on the history - maybe they have kept in touch with him but cannot provide him with any financial assistance, and that made it SEEM like they couldn't keep up with him. But based on what little I can see, that's how it seems - that Papachu just cut ties. And IF that's the case...how might he react knowing his son was just...randomly killed? The guy was already dealing with a slowburn mental breakdown. And I don't say any of this like I'm waiting for some kind of freakout - I'm saying, this could easily turn into yet another bit of horrible news.

not rlly sure y the family even put him in charge of paying the rent anyways. he’s clearly not all there.
they should have been the ones taking care of him and not the other way around. they were practically living off his checks in the apartment and i think in the motel too + whatever donald jr. was making. seriously, it makes no sense at all. and since they practically have little to no income, i can imagine even getting medicine/help for him was difficult, but im not too sure on how policies for low income families who need assistance with this type of thing work in NM.
all i’m sayin is were they really surprised when they found out a mentally ill man isn’t capable of making sound financial decisions?? i mean come on. donald sr. and his illness shouldn’t be blamed for their living situation. even back in the apartment, tophia was more than capable of getting a job to support her parents (seeing how she was living w them and that they were both elderly) and herself.

They are slow that’s why
-
I’m not blaming him. I don’t think any of the slydells are to blame for the tragedy that took place what I’m saying is I think it would be very easy for Donald sr to blame himself even if at the end of the day the only one whose fault it is is the man who decided he had the right to take a life that morning.
-
It’s speculated that Marie and Don sr have a patriarchal mindset; it’s the man who runs the house, works, etc. that’s why Don jr worked while tophia was encouraged to stay home. They put Don sr in charge of finances because he’s the man.

Meth and heroin has rotted his teeth and mind

He’s so deep in his mania I don’t even think he remembers he has a family.
-
I mean judging from his twitter it looked like he was using drugs and that mixed with his already bad mental problems, I would assume he either wouldn’t be able to process it or would just spiral deeper. It’s insane because the shelter he was at was only like 20 mins from the parking lot they stayed in but yet they never went to get him. If anyone cut ties, it was the family

idk. I guess I could see that. I don't want to speculate that far at the moment

If he cared, he would take his meds and help his wife.
-
Let’s tell the schizophrenic person who can’t control his severe schizophrenia to take his meds guys. Despite Tophia and Marie messing with his meds and not keeping in contact with his doctor. 🤦

As I said previously he either won't care or will come up with some conspiracy involving his little fantasy world
-
He literally has a schizoaffective disorder, im pretty sure schizophrenic people can’t control their “little fantasy world”

-
If they are smart they won’t tell him bec it may be more dangerous for him to know right now for the public.
-
he wouldn’t care he’s too far gone

Would probably try to produce a new son.
If he ever manages to get back on his meds and become mentally stable again I would imagine he’ll be feeling some pretty horrific guilt. If he had been medicated and in his right mind to be paying their rent his family never would’ve been on the streets for this to happen in the first place. Now his only son, his namesake, is gone just a shitty situation all around :(
