Why are people ignorant about Donald Sr’s mental illness and disability?
I seen comments regarding his schizophrenia saying “he should take his meds” or “he’s stuck in his fantasy world” as if his schizoaffective disorder is something he can control? We’ve seen rare clips of Donald Sr acting normal which meant he was on his medications. For example, Donald Sr called out Tophia that “she sits on her ass talking to people.” We can assume he was in his right headspace here and on his medications.
We also know that Marie and Tophia messed with his medications and that caused him to spiral. With his vulnerable mindset, Tophia and Marie were able to take advantage of his VA checks without him knowing or calling them out.
With the evidence of him using heroine and his multiple arrests, Donald Sr is at a high risk of dying. People in this sub are going to feel bad despite being ignorant of his mental health and making fun of his antics he can’t control or comprehend.
I acknowledge he is creepy and has said things very predatory, however he is not in the right state of mind. Keep in mind not all people have the same severity of his mental illness. He needs to be in a mental health institution where he is able to take his medications and not in the streets endangering others and himself. What do you guys think?

I'm never too sure how to bring up donald sr.. i always had a feeling they were using that man, considering the tiktoks theyd create nonchalnatly while he talked about his scam "bank" or whatever. its just horrible to think about since i sort of sympathize. my mother has schizophrenia, and my family made her out to be the monster, and she suffered at the hands of police brutality all because the law saw her as a threat, but she was just scared. It is sad to say, but i fear if donald does keep this up, he WILL pass. ive seen it happen to my departed stepfather, who became homeless after serving the country and turning to H. Just a terrible situation all around .

Same. Who gaf . He’s an awful person. That’s where i won’t even blame tophia for not trying to help him. The only thing i was against was her using his checks . Atleast give him what’s his and stop mooching off his money.

I have always sympathized with Tophia when it comes to Donald Sr., as my own mother has been in and out of mental hospitals since I was about a year old. And I don’t know about NM’s laws but in Texas, it’s near impossible to get someone over the age of 18 any kind of mental help against their will. My siblings and I worked with the courts/social services for 2 years trying to get my mother help and were told that the state prioritized those who present a clear danger to themselves or others. Turns out they don’t care too much about an old woman who isn’t eating or bathing regularly and thinks demons are after her 🤷🏻♀️

It really is frustrating as someone who experienced a loved one suffering from bipolar schizophrenia first hand. Especially when they egg him on. Not a smart move, but that’s what comes with this, many people aren’t here with good intentions or morals, they get a thrill from adding fuel to the fire.

I think OP meant well with this comment but blaming that disgusting behavior on his mental illness only perpetuates harmful stereotypes about people with schizophrenia.

He should be med compliant. He should start an IOP. None of us can make him med compliant. When he's on meds he understands that while off of them he did harm to himself and others but chooses to go off meds. Side effects for high doses of anti psychotic meds and mood stabilizers come with some pretty awful side effects. So a lot of us struggle to be med compliant. It's not a picnic to deal with the treatment. I'll tell you that. Whether he has schizoaffective, schizophrenia or drug induced schizophrenia the street drugs are making everything worse. Once again though we cannot make him make healthier choices.
I don't get why you are trying to lay guilt on people for his condition. Statistically the odds are not good for him. I fail to see how "he should take his meds" is an ignorant statement. Meds are exactly what he would need and an IOP. Even if he gets better no guarantee he won't quit meds and start over.

Honestly, I personally find it easier to feel bad for him. He's a creep. Him being schizophrenic doesn't excuse that. I do feel bad for him considering he's a veteran and hasn't gotten the assistance he needs. We as a country constantly fail the men and women who have risked their lives to give us and help us keep our freedoms. His entire family used his vet check and ssi for themselves, especially Tophia. They relied on his income and look where that got them. They failed him. He isn't self sufficient because he isn't medicated. Of course, it isn't going to cure his mental illnesses, but it can regulate them. Now he's homeless and has gotten ahold of drugs. They never cared about him, they failed him as his family.

i've been thinking this, he's said some pretty abhorrent things but it's pretty obvious that man isn't existing on the same plane as the rest of us i fear.
