      It means living away from utilities like power and gas,water, etc. Thus "off the grid". Think of someone living in the forest in a cabin that's 100% Self efficient. Growing food,collecting water,firewood,hunting.

            People romanticize the hell out of it and overestimate their abilities to do it for sure. A lot of stuff you need to learn,do and maintain. There's no relaxing all day being lazy and sitting on your phone. Might as well get a job at that point its way easier.
