Does anyone live in NM and can give context to the safety of the community?

Genuinely curious and want to hear from actual locals rather than looking at crime statistics. Please no direct doxxing, but the area they were in I am assuming is dangerous in general?

I live on the opposite side of the country and am just thinking, like I’d sleep in my car if absolutely needed and feel pretty okay but I am also in a decent area.

I’m from Albuquerque. Moved 6 months ago but the crime is really bad. I saw a local yesterday post about the area they were parked at and called it “hells half acre” apparently it’s a very bad part of town.

i don’t live there so i can’t speak on what it’s always like but last year i had to stop in Albuquerque during a road trip and it was very bad. there’s a lot of homeless and petty crimes in the area.

I’m not from Albuquerque, I’m from New Mexico, but when I visited Albuquerque, the first day I was there, I saw a lot of homeless people. I talked to some locals, and they said it’s normal for their cars to get broken into. I went into a gas station, and they were talking about how someone had overdosed that same day. And honestly, New Mexico in general is just really bad. I’m from a small town, and I hear gunshots every night.
