I understand everyone feels bad about what happened but this was a freak accident that could have happened to anybody. Her lack of housing and job security was of her own volition. End of story.

As an RN I’ve done Evals on people like Tophia and she meets criteria for a group home. She’s not mentally capable. She thought mix by hand meant using your hands. I have to agree with the above poster.

I’m almost 35 years old, have never had a driver’s license, and have maintained continuous employment since the age of 19. I live in a city much smaller than Albuquerque with no public transportation so I have always worked a job within walking distance or done remote work. In case of bad weather, I’ve had to get Uber rides or asked friends/family. I’m not saying everyone’s circumstances are the same but not having a car/ license in itself is not a reason to be unemployed. When you’re an adult, you figure out what you need to do to support yourself.

this argument makes no sense because her brother was able to hold jobs and they were very similar in appearance. this is just another excuse.
tophia never got a job or looked for one because she thought herself better than those of us that work conventional jobs to support ourselves and our families.

She needs to be I a group home situation. They “make” them work and supervise them. As a nurse I’ve met many people in group homes and they had social interaction and made friends. I don’t know why you are being downvoted. Tophia isn’t mentally capable of holding down a normal job. It’s reality. She needs to be somewhere safe. They both qualify for a group home. Both Marie and Tophia can go. They need to get out of Albuquerque and somewhere safe first. I hope SW at hospital are helping.

She shouldve saved up the money she had to provide her family a safe and better environment instead her ego is so fuckin huge she decided to just stay living in a car w her sick mother. Tophia is irresponsible and could have done more, but that’s true of Brotherchu and Mamachu as well. Donald Jr spent all of his money on shitbox cars for his hobby. Mamachu raised two kids with 0 life skills and 0 accountability.
And for the record - anyone can be the victim of random violence, regardless of employment or housing status. They were in the wrong place at the wrong time and the only person to blame is the carjacker who decided to start shooting.

The Slydells got kicked out of the extended stay for non-payment and—at least according to the housekeeper’s videos—likely would have eventually been put out anyway due to the condition they kept their room in. That wasn’t anybody online’s fault.

Hell no. It was Tophia's choice to broadcast her life to the world. She kept making the excuse that she couldn't get a job because trolla would harass her employer like they did to her brother. But despite this, Donald was able to remain employed up until his life was cut short. She could have stepped away from being an influencer, fade into obscurity, gotten a job, pooled her income with her brother's, and then would have been able to afford a place for her family to stay and this all NEVER would have happened.

I’m not trying to be too insensitive rn. But, did she not have anywhere to go because she refused to get a job? and I know a lot of people used to encourage her to get a job, and give tips, before it turned into the trolling. But she didn’t have anywhere to go because she didn’t want to get a job, and tiktok wasn’t a reliable income anymore. So I hope after this she can have the courage to get an actual job that will financially hold her up.
