I don’t think it’s right to accuse people in this subreddit of “all the sudden caring after bullying her for so long”. She’s an Internet personality, and (most of us) have just been calling out bad behavior and making fun of her. That DOES NOT mean any of us wish any harm on this woman.

I think multiple things can be true at once.

I have to much sympathy for tophia right now. Regardless whose “fault” it is they were in so much danger by living on the streets, this is such a senseless tragedy. I don’t think anyone should rub it in tophias face that her laziness partially caused them to be living on the streets in constant danger. I don’t want anyone to say anything like that to Tophia, and I’ve been seeing people say that and being so cruel to her over all this.

I think we need to put aside our opinions of Donald Jr., and come through for tophia. For the hope she can get a better life and get through this tragedy.

Yes, Tophia refused to get a job, and then they ended up on the streets. That’s a big part of this whole situation, is that if she had made different decisions and bit the bullet to get a job and care for herself and her family, this situation could have been avoided (maybe), but it definitely would have been a lot less likely to happen if they were in a house and not living in a car.) Homelessness is terrible, and so incredibly dangerous.

But to EVER blame Tophia for getting carjacked and the subsequent tragedy, is so harmful and irresponsible.

Obviously, this was not tophias fault one bit. Yes, she didn’t work- but it’s not out of pure laziness- I know many extremely lazy people who know they have to make money so they don’t end up homeless. Tophia obviously has some type of mental issue that has clouded her judgement so much she convinced herself she didn’t need a job and could just live on the streets completely fine.

That is not normal, it’s a mental health problem. She’s been through so much in her life, and was never taught the importance of being able to make money and work hard. All she knows seems to be abuse and neglect, and she never had parents who didn’t enable and encourage her behavior of not wanting to work. I feel like some of us don’t understand the privilege we have of having parents who taught us hard work and good values, and clearly tophia was never raised like that.

PLEASE, let tophia grieve this. This was not her fault, and I really do think she’s not mentally completely all there in order to be able to understand why homeless is so dangerous, obviously not up until now.

This should have never happened and i genuinely think we should do what we can to be there for her and her mother right now. (Those of us with disposable income and willingness to try to get her some resources and relief)

I make homeless bags, (necessities like hygiene products, feminine hygiene products, socks, food, water, soap, etc.) but I live so far from Toph it’s not like I can give them to her. I think she really needs to find a shelter, and all we can do is try to send her resources. She’ll also need a lot of trauma therapy and mental health support after going through something like this.

I think we need to put aside our opinions of Donald Jr., and come through for tophia. For the hope she can get a better life and get through this tragedy.

Tophia, You didn’t deserve any of this, and we are here to help you get back on your feet and heal as much as possible. There are people who care and want you and your mom to get through this. You CAN lead better lives, for yourselves and for your dad and brother. You deserve to pick up the pieces of all this and come out the other end better. You can do it, and we can help you. I can help find resources for shelters, and ways you can spend your time to make money while healing and living in a safe environment, off the streets. I’m so sorry for your loss.

This is all in my opinion, and I know some people don’t think Tophia deserves help or support because of her past decisions. But this was trauma, and no one deserves this. I’m not a fan of either her or Donald Jr., but unfortunately they were just raised in such a dysfunctional environment, it would have been impossible to turn out completely “right”. I don’t know much about the PDF allegations, but I think it’s important to put that aside because he is no longer with us or a danger to anyone, and now it’s time for Tophia to try her best to heal.
