How bad is Albuquerque?

Does anyone here live in Albuquerque? How dangerous is it? When during the holidays i drove cross country, and a lot of people warned me not to stop in Albuquerque and to be extra cautious when pumping gas. I was advised to refuel in Gallup or Tucumcari and keep driving straight to Texas. After what happened to Tophia, I’m curious how bad the crime really is there. Having lived in Los Angeles, I know firsthand how rough crime can be in certain areas, but I’m wondering if Albuquerque is even worse.
It can be dangerous if you’re in dangerous areas associating with dangerous people. Otherwise, my belongings have only been stolen from my car two or three times 😂
