I know Albuquerque doesn’t have the reasons for temporary house…

r/tophiachutiktok • by unbeatablenuts •

My cousin was in an abusive situation and she didn’t have a job and she went and spoke to someone and she was given a year of free housing while she got back on her feet. I know Albuquerque doesn’t have the resources but does anything like that exist anywhere close? She can’t drive, her mom can’t drive and she’s barely made any money in the last few months. I know this somehow won’t be what leads to her getting a real job, but maybe temporary housing would give her and her mom somewhere to go while they figure things out.

Someone said section 8 has a long waitlist but with S8 I know that they have requirements such as you HAVE to be looking for employment or keeping a job so I wouldn’t be surprised if they were declined or just didn’t move forward knowing that.

She said once they couldn’t get section 8 cause she needed a job 🙊

She did! Then she said if she did get a job she would make too much and they would lose section 8. The logic doesn’t make sense

They don’t qualify for section 8 due to their credit history. Still have to have decent credit.

The waitlist is 3-4 yrs in Albuquerque

Bingo! Renting isn’t even an option for them.

Yep, they're pretty much screwed when it comes to legit housing which is why tophia has deluded herself ibto thinking someone is just going to give them a home for free.

I think she cited Gypsy Rose as an example of someone getting a house for free.

So essentially, she wants to be Gypsy.

They were paying $800 a month with bills included at the hotel, and they still screwed it up. I wish I lived that cheap. They've had a lot of opportunities and money handed to them over the years, and they still refused to better themselves.

That was also how much their apartment cost. And it was a 3br 2ba situation.

They fucked up every situation they’ve had because they wanted to be cheap and live a luxe lifestyle like the Kardashians. And yes, that’s including her brother

Marie probably will end up on disability & that should be able to get her section 8

Not that easy. They were evicted and Marie’s name was son th lease:z

Regardless she’s old & disabled this situation definitely gonna help her get a disability check hopefully she’s smart enough to use it on motels or go to a home

Does her being married affect her eligibility?

There are shelters here. And the bus system is free. She could walk into the UNM psych emergency room and seek out help and resources.

Not sure how it is there, but so long as you adhere to the rules, Section 8 has done "rent to own" for some people in Maine.
