I did notice in HS at her grad she had the black student union thing on. So she’s been lying about it most of her life. She turns her blackness on and off like a switch. Even if you buy the lie about her race, even if we pretend she's black when we all know better—Tophia, are you proud enough to tell us where in Africa? What part of your supposed heritage are you proud of, is it the cuisine you never cook of a country you couldn't find on a map; is it a language you don't speak; is it history and folklore you don't know? My girlfriend is Sudanese (and I don't just mean in some ten-generations-ago abstracted sense), she speaks the language, keeps the cuisine alive, travels back to visit, lives her culture as a daily thing—it's not a costume to put on for attention, it's just an intrinsic part of who she is. For Tophia, even if she did have some genetic claim here (which, again, raw bollocks), it doesn't mean anything if you can't live it in any way.

So I dont know know to explain this completely but when we say white, we are talking about her race. Not her ethnicity, Latina is not a race. The one thing we do know is that she is Hispanic, that’s the only thing we know is true, since her mother is Hispanic. And since it’s also suspected her mom is Spaniard, Tophia is called white even more
