Tophia, you are not Afro-Latina. You don't even know for sure if you're actually of African decent for one, and two... your mother is a WHITE hispanic woman whose family is from SPAIN. Spain is not a Latin American country. Therefore you are not Afro-Latina.

No one knows where tf Marie is from, Marie included. But I've said it before and I stand by it, your identity isn't just some genetic thing, it's the culture you belong to and have lived authentically. It doesn't matter if Marie is from Torreón or from Seville, that family has no culture other than the most generic middle-American bullshit and Tophia can't just pull an ethnic card out when it suits her. Does she speak the language? Have any customs or traditions to fall back on? Have any sense of history? Can she even find anywhere she claims heritage from on a map? Of course not. Marie claims she is Spanish decent, however, she claims her parents and grandparents are from the mountains of NEW Mexico. Tophia and Marie never claimed to be Mexican, they live in New Mexico which is where I think the mix up about them being Mexican comes from.

A lot of mixed people don't know for sure what to call themselves or where they fall. Often, they just claim whatever group they feel more at home with. ...or they try to find what makes the most sense for them.
I'm mixed race Dominican. My Father is black Dominican and my Mother has Spanish heritage from Spain, but she is also Dominican. Some people call be black, some call me white, some call me mixed, and some know i'm hispanic. Personally, I just say Hispanic... because i'm Dominican.
I feel weird when people either call me black or white. I feel weird being called mixed too, but i'm understanding that technically thats what I am.
