I do feel bad for Tophia regarding everything that went down, and I can’t imagine how difficult this situation must be for her. No one deserves to go through something like this, and I truly sympathize with what she’s dealing with. However, in her recent Instagram story, she said that people should have helped her sooner—but the reality is that people did try to help. People gave her advice, people warned her about the path she was on, and people tried to guide her in a better direction. She simply refused to listen.
The tragic situation involving her brother’s shooting is not her fault, and it’s completely understandable that she feels overwhelmed right now. That being said, while she couldn’t have controlled what happened to him, she could have done more to control or improve their living situation before things got to this point. That’s something she had influence over, and unfortunately, she didn’t take the opportunities she had. Blaming the people on the internet isn’t fair when so many of them genuinely tried to help her before it was too late. At some point, she has to take accountability for the choices she made and stop shifting the blame onto others.

I always wondered why people give so much grace to Marie when she’s the same as tophia just in an older body. She didn’t work and reproduced multiple children and had them homeless and introduced them to this lifestyle but bc she’s now a senior citizen she’s off the hook? Let’s be real if tophia had children and refused to work and had them experience homelessness throughout their childhood it would be a totally different response. And this is gonna ruffle feathers 😬 but Donald jr was working to provide and that still wasn’t enough bc people chose to call his job and harass the company. Overall I feel bad for Marie, however I don’t feel it’s tophias responsibility to take care of her adult mother when her mother couldn’t even take care of her as a child. If she would’ve had a 401k and saved for retirement things would’ve been different. I could understand if Marie had a home and a savings account and her daughter was the only one not working, but in her youth she made irresponsible choices and this is where we are at.

Marie honestly isn’t even old enough to be totally dependent on her children. My mom is a few years younger than her and she still works and manages her life independently. Yes, Marie is in poor health, but that’s largely because she doesn’t put any effort into taking care of herself. She’s not a helpless victim.

I agree 100% there’s people older than her still working past retirement and it’s sad it has to be that way, but I’m just not understanding how everyone’s expects other people to take care of their parents. Kids aren’t responsible to take care of their parent regardless of the age and I’m sorry if that sounds selfish, but some people have a career and children of their own

exactly. this family (besides donald jr, to some extent) has made no real effort in changing their living situation. unfortunately i believe donald sr and marie conditioned tophia to believe she is better than a 9-5 job. if they showed their children some real life skills (obtaining & keeping a job, cooking, cleaning, saving money) then it would be a different story.

I really only feel bad for Marie, she isn't perfect as she's enabled a lot of Tophia's behaviors along with Donald Jr's but no mother should bury their child or even witness that child snuffed out right before their eyes.

Also, the ultimate reason people don’t trust her or wanted to give her money anymore is because people tried to help her. They legitimately felt for her and wanted to improve. They gave her the cash in hand, however, instead of going towards rent or literally anything important she blew it on crappy, fast food make up Temu trinkets, stupid trips, etc. etc.

I'll get downvote but idc. Y'all completely took what she said out of context. She dead ass said "I wish we would've gotten help sooner" Tophia's wording is clearly not the best. She's not blaming us viewers or the public or saying we should've helped her. She's saying she wishes she would've reached out and gotten help for herself/her family sooner instead of just sitting around doing nothing.
People nitpick every single last thing she says just because y'all always want something to drag her/be pissed at her about.
I'm not a Tophia defender at all, but come on.

I get what you’re saying, and yeah, her wording might not have been perfect, but at the same time, people aren’t just reaching for something to be mad about. Given her history, it’s understandable why some took it the way they did. Whether she meant it as self-reflection or not, the way she phrased it made it easy to interpret as her placing blame elsewhere.
At the end of the day, people did try to warn her and give advice, and she ignored them. That’s why some feel frustrated when she makes a statement like that—it comes off like she’s overlooking the fact that help was available, but she didn’t take it. It’s not about nitpicking just to drag her; it’s about holding her accountable for the choices she made leading up to this situation.

That’s why people are pissed because for years people did try to help. They have offered resources, linked her to site that could help, given her honestly really sound advice and alternatives to her problems, even just straight up given her money when she felt like she was in a dire situation. She collectively pissed everybody off when she be betrayed their trust and abused that money and used it on stupid garbage. So we’re mad that she has the audacity to act like nobody ever tried to help.

Tophia is in no way responsible for what happened to Donald and Marie. The only person at fault is the shooter. That said, I worry that Tophia will blame the internet for letting her be homeless and broke and expect strangers to help her get back on her feet instead of looking inward and putting in the work to improve her life. What she’s been through is tragic and I have a lot of compassion for her, but unfortunately the only person who can change her circumstances is Tophia herself. I hope she takes advantage of any resources provided by the hospital and the police.
