Would a group home be a good option for Tophia?
Are there any ppl out there that work with special needs/group homes I just have a question? Would a group home help Tophia flourish in her environment or just wishful thinking.

Group homes are ysually meant for people who are functionnal enough to work, but not enough to live on their own.

It will inevitably go the Daniel Larson route. She will accidentally doxx the home, people will start trolling by calling, sending pizzas, etc. They will tell her to get offline, she will refuse, and they will kick her out.

As someone who manages group homes,it would be a great option for her. I know 10+ tophiachus, and they end up thriving when given structure and responsibilities. The question is, would she like the group home? Nope, she'd hate it. I can already tell what her ISP would contain. She'd 100% be restricted from the internet. Showering every day, part-time job, and being put on a diet plan.

Group homes are for people who are unable to function in the everyday world, whether temporarily or permanently.
Tophia ***chooses*** not to function. There's nothing actually wrong with her that a shower and a personality transplant wouldn't fix.

Yes she clearly is intellectually challenged people with IQs below 70s need help with daily maintenance, finances, chores etc. As much as I clown her I actually feel bad because she isn’t capable of taking care of herself let alone Marie.

I see this mentioned a lot by people, but I'm not sure I agree. I think she might just be "regular" stupid, without any disabilities. Like bottom 10th percentile dumb.

legally, it will be an issue can group homes can only accept people who have an officially diagnosed disability that is recognized by a doctor.
I don't think tophia has been officially been declared legally disabled by a doctor...right?
due to very limited space available in group homes (a common problem) they are limited to those who would otherwise be homeless. I am not sure if tophia would be declared a high priority unless she has been documented to be proven unable to care for herself to do basic tasks like daily hygiene or manage her finances.
I'm honestly not sure if tophia is legally considered disabled...is she? I mean, she did say she was in special ed classes in high school?

I worked with mentally ill and intellectually disabled adults for 20 years. I get down voted anytime I say that she's obviously intellectually delayed. A group home would probably be the best bet for Tophia and Marie both. Both are obviously delayed and need some social services. The issue is if either have been diagnosed and are receiving Social Security Disability. Would Tophia buck the rules? Yes. But that's normal. I've been thrown through a closet door by a client who didn't want to take his meds before and he wasn't kicked out. It would take epic level fuck ups for Tophia to be kicked out and not showering won't get her kicked out.
Be real. If Tophia was placed in a group home today, by this afternoon, there would be a concerted effort here to get her kicked out.-
I really believe that Tophia would have a hard time, at first, with the structure and forced socialization of a group home. But with the right guidance, I think Tophia would flourish in a group home.

yep now that she’s gotten a taste of living in a hotel room by herself doordashing whatever she wants having people feel sorry for here and having thousands of $ at her fingertips she will never settle for less

No. You have to actually participate in chores and they encourage outside activities. She would want to stay sitting on her ass all day. Also she would be jealous of a lot of the people there and i wouldn’t put it past her if she were to steal things.
