Would this have happened if they were in a grey sedan? Would the thief have been less likely to notice if the car was a solid, plain color, or did it catch his eye because it was so brightly painted? Did he see the people in it and think it would be easier to steal instead of an empty car? Or was it just the first car he saw period.

If anything the color should have been a deterrent because it’s easy to spot not a good get away car but he was desperate for another car and they were the only car there.
I think it was just wrong time, wrong place. That area is known for homeless people. They literally pitch tents at the park and live there. There’s a lot of crime. There were like 4 other homicides in the area the same day brotherchu was killed. It could’ve been any car unfortunately he picked theirs
