I’m pretty sure she has it, I know she’s never going to check until it’s too late, but given her eating habits and I’m pretty sure she doesn’t drink water much mostly… the darkness and roughness around her neck is linked to acanthosis nigricans which is common among signs of type 2 diabetes. What do yall think? I know people irl who have diabetes and have had the same pigmentation in their neck area and one of those people work in the medical field so tophia can’t sit there and try to say it’s a lie until she go get diagnoses for diabetes like she apparently got diagnosed for depression.
i thought the darkness was related to the beard and dirt but ill take your word for it

It’s probably a mixture of all 3 but the possibility of diabetes is very much real
u/iheartcherrycokezero • 3 weeks ago • score 19
i can be also that but look at tophia’s diet and lifestyle. its most likely insulin resistance
u/Upstairs-Physics2470 • 3 weeks ago • score 4
I had an ex that had a similar appetite to her before she found out she’s pre diabetic and the main thing I noticed first was the dark pigmentation around her neck just like this one

It’s not dirt. It’s the color of her skin. And many children were bullied and picked on by being called dirty for it. Have you gone home and rubbed your neck raw and bleeding so you could be clean and not be made fun of at school?
This sub isn’t even snark about what she does hardly it’s just straight up bullying her appearance like there’s not 150 other things she has CHOSEN to do and were egregious choices to talk about. It’s not illegal to be ugly. However, it IS illegal to literally scam and fuck with Papachu’s meds to get him out on the street so she could have his VA check. THAT’S evil.

You're 🎯 on the spot, that's diabolical as well, as criminal 👀 to tamper with someone's medicine..she needs to be in jail

I said this a few days ago, there’s no way she can’t be at least pre-diabetic based on her body type and skin issues…

Don’t forget her “diet” that consists of everything but vegetables

Definitely think it’s due to insulin resistance. But she does not care. She’ll never change her eating habits.
u/ilovemyorangecat • 3 weeks ago • score 15
Just another thing she's resisting in life
u/Biscotti_Difficult • 3 weeks ago • score 16
Yup! Could be a sign of diabetes but that’s because this sign is an indicator of insulin resistance (opposite of sensitive; body has to make more insulin than normal to keep regulated blood sugars). This is best attributed to her unmanaged polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). She probably has irregular (if any) periods (of actual bleeding), but she will still have the hormonal changes. PCOS women are at a higher likelihood for Pre-Menstrual Distress Disorder (PMDD), which means emotionally you feel the week before your period and just physically “meh” when it’s period week. My PMDD is a result of my body basically being “allergic” to progesterone, even though I don’t make enough of the hormone to trigger a period. To shed the uterine lining, a progesterone “superpack” with like a week or two of pills to take and then you have the worst next two weeks of your life. Just bleeding and cramps and so messy. Unreasonable amount of blood. 2-3 a year are recommend unless your uterine lining is especially thin. I suspect Tophia doesn’t have regular periods (or any), either. Dark under arms and darkening inside of thighs are some of the other things people make fun of her for due to the insulin resistance, including her neck. Her weight being focused in her stomach as well gets her a lot of shit, and this results from higher testosterone and androgen levels which places new weight around mid-section. Also correlates to high cortisol production (stress hormone). The hump of fat at the top of her neck is the same deal with weight distribution. As far as I know, you can only manage insulin/PCOS weight loss will not help some issues and is astronomically harder to loose the weight. Takes years and years of diet and exercise change to MAYBE lighten up the spots. Some kind of hormonal birth control (for weight distribution, excessive hair growth especially on her face, hormone regulation) and some metformin would almost definitely benefit her. Her cholesterol is 100% through the roof with all the fried and processed food she eats. Needs a statin for cholesterol, and I have no doubts and I don’t see how she doesn’t have NAFLD. Thirsty could mean she could be pre-diabetic, but it’s more likely she is just homeless in Albuquerque and dehydrated. She’s a little young for diabetes and it’s got a large genetic factor (as far as I know, no immediate relatives with diabetes). Have we seen her drink anything but water? And being in New Mexico and walking around/being outside, she’s sweating more too. Weight-loss recommendations say to drink half your body weight in lbs in ounces of water but standard water needed for most people is around 64 oz (gallon). And no way in hell she drinks that much liquid, much less drinks that much water. She needs just as much help taking care of herself as Mamachu does and it’s because of this “learned helplessness” and basic lack of life skills that entire family has. Of course her intellectual issues don’t help and shame on Mamachu/Papachu for not getting their kids the help they needed in school. She needs a comprehensive metabolic panel with vitamins/minerals and hormones. She needs a PCP (primary care/family doctor) (Tophia and Marie should try and see the same doctor) and a gynecologist (BC, uterine ultrasound). May also refer her to endocrinologist (blood sugar, hormone management/HRT). Both need an optometrist and DENTIST. And honestly like some kind of home health aid/help in making sure they are doing what they need too and holding them accountable but I don’t think those exist. And if they do the government certainly isn’t going to pay for one. Many such cases. But she’s kinda a piece of shit sooooo lmao

The beard and discoloration around her neck and underarms is more than likely related to PCOS.
u/werebuffalo • 3 weeks ago • score 6
While I agree that she either has diabetes or is well on her way to having it, those dark patches could just as easily be ground-in filth. We know she has poor hygiene.
I had a period of homelessness when I was younger, and didn't get to bathe nearly as often as I would have liked to. There were times when my neck looked a lot like that, and once I got access to hot water, soap, and a bristle brush, it went away.

If she has PCOS, it causes insulin deficiency, so definitely either borderline or completely diabetic.
u/Spare_Lemon2660 • 3 weeks ago • score 7
This! It’s all connected and could be treated which would improve her quality of life so much but then she couldn’t be the victim anymore…
u/manicmannerisms • 3 weeks ago • score 4
That isn’t always the case though.
Anecdotally I have PCOS and the insulin resistance that comes with it but I am neither pre diabetic or diabetic. The insulin resistance can cause the same dark skin as diabetes.
It really depends on the person though, and I’m sure with the junk Tofupa eats it is probably diabetes. Not to defend her at all, just trying to share some background on PCOS!!!
u/Much-Moose9396 • 3 weeks ago • score 3
I have pcos, too :/ im technically not diabetic or prediabetic, but that's also on me being very cautious about my diet and exercise.

Insulin resistance, pretty bad if it’s coming up to the front of her neck like that. She probably has PCOS as well which is why she has facial hair, insulin resistance, apron belly)
It can be managed tho!!!
I have PCOS, I was diagnosed at 21, given meds and no more insulin resistance, lost weight, facial hair wasnt as bad (I ended up having to get lazer).
